Agri-TechE’s REAP event; exhibiting, musings about AI in the space, and a white paper on future predictions for AgriTech…

A throroughly enjoyable REAP event was last week put on by Agri-TechE – and it was a pleasure to exhibit alongside Pondus Visionary Poultry!

Some powerful and emotive talks, particularly in relation to the future development of AI in agriculture (and in general). Key points for thought:

🤖 There are many ways in which we find it difficult to see how AI can transform certain elements of agriculture – and, in recruitment, we find ourselves with similar doubts. How can AI replace the human interaction side of things, for example? However, AI has potential to transcend human comprehension – just because we don’t understand how something can be acheived by AI, doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
🗣️ OR, contrary to some of the points above, perhaps there genuinely are parts of our processes, such as human interaction and emotional intelligence, that AI will never replace – it will realise itself that it can’t, and instead focus on what it can change.
💡 Are we currently thinking too small? Current focus is often on what menial tasks AI could replace. But could we one day reach a stage where AI overhauls the very systems that we take for granted today? AI may find a way of radically improving our supply systems, economic and cost models, everything about the way certain sectors operate. Could we one day type into an AI website, “Develop a whole strategy for running an agritech recruitment business” and then watch as it completely re-writes the playbook in front of us? Perhaps with ideas that we humans simply are not capable of concocting, but will work 100x better than what we’re currently doing. (Or, “AI, please tell us how to solve climate change in the least disruptive way possible” 🤯)

Finally, Agri-TechE released their ‘Back to the Future’ white paper identifying member-provided insights and predictions for the future of the space. Our Managing Director’s own thoughts on where the talent in burgeoning sector is likely to come from are included… overall, it makes for a captivating read!
