Research Scientist – Tissue Culture

Location: Cambridge, UK

  • Do you have wet lab based Tissue Culture experience?
  • Would you be interested in contributing to the activities of a business contributing to a more sustainable food system?

 

KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Demonstrable experience (6 months +) as a Scientist / Researcher / Technician in a wet lab environment.
  • Confident handling tissue culture samples and happy in a practical, hands-on lab role.
  • Preferably exposure to plant-based tissue culture (although those with tissue culture experience outside of plants, with an interest in getting into this sector, are also encouraged to apply!)
  • Academic background in a relevant discipline (ideally to MSc or PhD level, or equivalent) – likely in an area such as Biology, Biotechnology, Plant / Crop Sciences or similar.
  • Other nice to haves (although not essential) – knowledge of Plant Transformation, Micropropagation

 

SUMMARY:

This fast growing start-up in the Agri/Food Sciences domain is committed to harnessing the power of plants to develop new proteins and ingredients – ultimately with the aim of contributing to a more sustainable, accessible and nutritional food system.

Through a variety of bio engineering and molecular biology related methods they are looking to break new ground and discover traits and innovations across a range of crop types which, in many cases, have never been explored in this way before.

As they grow, a Researcher is required with practical experience handling Tissue Culture samples in a wet lab based environment. We are open to varying experience levels – whether you are at the more junior end and operating in a lab technician type of role, through to more experienced individuals who may be more interested in roles at a Scientist / Researcher level.

Candidates will ideally have Plants based exposure, that being said we would be interested in speaking to those with Tissue Culture experience gained in other domains with transferrable skills.
