ROLE & COMPANY SUMMARY:
Whilst the AgriTech sector takes off, with amazing innovations springing up everywhere in the AgriFood sector, advancements in weed control have been virtually non-existent in the last 30 years.
New herbicides and chemical modes of action are urgently need to 1) break down weed resistance, and 2) reduce our reliance on treatments that are environmentally harmful and therefore unsustainable.
This rapidly growing AgriTech company, now with significant financial backing, are on a mission to accelerate and de-risk the discovery of new & innovative weed control solutions. Having initially outsourced trial and plant science activities to various research partners, they have in recent times moved into a new trials facility in order to bring these activities in house. This move, into a space comprising of both glasshouse and field trial facilities in the Leeds / York area, has resulted in the need to grow a small team of Weed / Plant Scientist to drive R&D.
A scientist & researcher with expertise in Weed Sciences and Herbicide resistance is therefore required to join this growing team. You will need to be a capable researcher with demonstrable experience specialising in this area. This is a developing team with some more junior members, therefore there will be an opportunity to take on lead & supervisory responsibilities.
