Contribute towards sustainable solutions for our global food and environmental systems!
KEY SKILLS / EXPERTISE REQUIRED:
ROLE AND COMPANY SUMMARY:
The use of environmentally harmful chemicals in agriculture and produce growth has been widespread across recent history, but is becoming increasingly clamped down upon as new regulations and legislative acts are brought in.
The outlawing of harmful chemicals is great news for the planet... but the fact remains that this leaves a potentially huge hole in our food system, and very few alternatives have been discovered and put into commercial use in recent decades.
This company, growing rapidly and with significant financial backing, is on a mission to change this - by discovering, developing and bringing into use commercially viable plant treatment solutions that are effective and, crucially, environmentally friendly. The overall result will be a significant contribution to a more sustainable and productive food system.
Due to growth, a Bioinformatician is required to focus mostly on an AI and Data driven in vivo discovery platform. As the company grows and matures, ensuring that their discovery platforms work in a smooth and accessible fashion is key - and who ever goes into this role will be seen as the go-to expert on Bioinformatics relating to this platform.
Therefore, you will need to be an already experienced Bioinformatician, capable of working in a role where you will be granted creative autonomy and influence - you may feel that moderate tweaks and additions to the platform are required, or a whole re-design and development! We would be interested therefore in speaking to people with around 3 years or more experience, ideally gained in industry - but those with experience gained in a more academic or research oriented setting are also encouraged to apply.
Specific skills and areas of expertise include expertise in Perl and Python development, along with System Biology and Phylogenetics knowledge.
