A busy start to the year continues, with coverage across a range of role types
We spend a lot of time talking about the careers variety that the worlds of emerging agrifood, agritech and biotech have to offer, and February has epitomised this. Positions that we’ve helped our clients to fill this month have included:
- Data Scientist for a Regenerative Agriculture business. This is off the back of placing a Data Scientist with the same business around a year ago, who has now progressed in seniority and needs to expand the team under him.
- Senior Marketing Manager for the same business… a first dedicated marketing hire, this required somebody who would be comfortable operating as a one-person marketing department, able to define strategy in a start-up like environment.
- Scientist in Tissue Culture & Plant Transformation for a start-up in the plant-based proteins domain. A tough one, especially with it being UK based where the market for this kind of talent is still relatively fledgling, but thankfully we were able to achieve a successful end result.
- Senior Project Manager in Vertical Farming. This one was a little different to a typical search campaign, as it actually derived from a candidate with a very specific skillset – a Project Management and Engineering background in the international CEA domain – approaching us to see what kind of opportunities we might be able to unearth. Through our networks, we were able to connect him to a fast growing Vertical Farming business with international expansion plans.
- Sales Manager in the biodiversity / sustainability world. An interesting proposition… the business is a start-up spun out from a more established property and land development company, wanting to help stakeholders in this world to more effectively meet biodiversity requirements and milestones. The successful candidate had a solid sales background and a history of engaging with land owners particularly across the AgriFarming landscape.
Looking forward to what else has come in, and therefore where we’d expect to see traction over the next month or so, we’ve seen an influx of senior level commercial and sales requirements in recent weeks – typically with smaller businesses looking to commercialise and drive revenue from the ground upwards. It’s refreshing to see start-ups in our world start to go to market… watch this space!
